YMO 2017
Dear Colleague,
Young Match Official Programme Guidance Document
Please find enclosed your personal e-copy of the Young Match Official Guidance which will help to support the introduction of 14-24 year olds to match officiating.
The aim is to provide the opportunity for young people to engage with match officiating in the 15-a-side game, generate reflective practice to identify development needs, and record their hours officiating the 15-a-side game as Young Rugby Ambassadors.
The volunteer hours can also help to support other academic, leadership and volunteering awards.
These hours can also help to support the large variety of playing opportunities within rugby and provide the newly-qualified young match official with valuable holistic development that will help to support and develop their personal CV for the future.
The guidance document will help by providing a step by step guide to designing and delivering a programme in clubs, schools, universities, youth groups and any other environment which includes young people between 14-24.
It also offers a variety of supportive annexes which again will help those looking to use match officiating in rugby to support the development of young people.
The Young Match Official Programme’s aim is to support the 15-a-side game and the young people who are part of a programme, will receive a Young Match Official shirt to officiate their first game on successful completion of the first component. There will also be further rewards and recognition along the way.
Having received your copy, please encourage others to get involved in supporting the development of young people and sustaining, safe and enjoyable games for the future.
For further advice and guidance, contact your local Match Official Development Officer (MODO) who can offer support and guidance to pull the programme together.
Grab the whistle and give it a go!
Yours sincerely
Michael
