RFU SAFEGUARDING/ DBS Applications.
Subject: Safeguarding e-Learning
Dear All,
From copies of emails that I'm receiving - it would appear that the RFU are undertaking Compliance Checks on DBS Applications, specifically in relation to applicants undertaking the on-line e-safeguarding awareness training.
Just as a reminder, Within RFU Regulation 21 - https://www.englandrugby.com/dxdam/98/983525f2-c5ca-47c3-b9cb-8748a5b7493d/Regulation%2021.pdf - (specifically Regulation 21.2.3) it is stipulated that “Prior to any DBS application, a person must complete the RFU’s online safeguarding awareness training.”
Unfortunately, there have been several "lack of common sense" incidents this season" - It is therefore important that all individuals who are engaging or applying to engage in the children’s workforce (whether that be paid of voluntary) should have a basic understanding of safeguarding processes in order to create a safe and enjoyable environment for the children within the rugby setting.
Please can you ensure that all future DBS applications are only submitted once your Society has ensured the on-line training has been completed in advance.
The RFU’s safeguarding training can be accessed, once the applicant is logged into GMS, on the following link - https://www.englandrugby.com/governance/safeguarding/safeguarding-courses
For your Society to manage those who have completed the safeguarding course, you can utilise GMS with the following instruction.
• Log into GMS – https://gms.rfu.com/GMS/Account/Login
• Access your society name
• Access the “People” section
• Click on “Everyone”
• Within the filters, you can select “Award Qualification Name”.
• Following this, filter it by the name “eLearning Introduction to Safeguarding”
• Click on “Apply” and this should display a list of all the individuals at your organisation who have completed the training.
Further information relating to GMS can be obtained via the GMS Helpdesk - https://help.rfu.com/support/home.
